Canon EOS 350D + Ubuntu

Yup, finally I got it working. The problem was not in Ubuntu or the software. The problem were situated in the Camera. The gphoto2 package and gtkam only support the Canon EOS 350D (Rebel XT in the US) in PTP mode. The PTP mode, picture-to-picture mode (I think), has to be selected in the Camera settings. I actually found the setting when I was setting up something else. And the I realized that this probably was the issue and it was!

So now I can use the camera which is very nice.

And this weekend I had the oppertunity to really use the camera. I did a photo/write job for the local newspaper. I got my text and three pictures in print! Not bad for an student in mechanical engineering.
With a bit of luck I can get some more work for the paper.

All for now.
