Yesterday I stumbled upon the movie linked by the topic of this post. I was just planning on shutting down the computer and then head straight to bed. But as usual this didn't happen. The movie is one hour of Mark Shuttleworth explaining to a crowd of Debian people his personal background in the OpenSource world and the general ideas about the Ubuntu project.
I found the movie very interesting and Shuttleworth seems to be right on the spot in my opinion. He talks about the his personal beliefs in the OpenSource format. And he is a beliver!
I would say that after seeing this movie I now feel that the Ubuntu/Kubuntu can become that distro that I, myself, want to se. A distro for the common person with usability and compability in first hand and the power of a "real" Linux dist like Debian, Red-Hat, Suse.
He also talks about the funding of the project. In the movie he tells the audience that he has put enough money in the ubuntu foundation that the project will live another twenty years.
I feel I like ubuntu more and more. The ideologi behind it is for me very nice, I support it! The dist Badgy Breezer may have it's pro's and con's but for what I use it now with KDE I like it more and more every day. I probably will disable the root account and do it the ubuntu-way soon. I'm more using the GUI managment applications now and finding my way.
Another thing, the city of Luleå Public Service is going to migrate from the Windows to some Linux distro. Another step on the right way!
And yet another thing, I haven't found the time to update to KDE 3.5 yet and from what I've heard it's even more nice :) More to come...
